Enterprise for Success
What is the Enterprise for Success programme? The Enterprise for Success programme, run by the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP), offers help and advice to you if you are starting a new business, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
The flexible, FREE programme offers:
- One-to-one support from qualified advisors
- Business plan preparation and cash flow forecasts
- Specialist training courses covering marketing, finance, tax, business planning, e-commerce and PR
- Referral to support organisations and networks
- Support for businesses in their first year of trading
Who can apply for the scheme? The support is available to those thinking of starting a business, or companies within their first year of trading (geographical restrictions may apply).

The Start Up Loans Company offers government-backed personal loans for business purposes. On top of small business funding services they also offer mentoring, guidance and all support you may require to help assist with your business start-up. Start Up Loans are unsecured personal loans that must be used for business purposes, and all applications take in to consideration both the individual’s personal affordability and the needs of the business. Business Enterprise Support has helped start thousands of businesses across Staffordshire since it was formed in 1983. Our team of enterprise coaches will help you decide if starting a business is for you, apply for loans through Virgin StartUp and then support you for three years. If you are a business starting a business that is based in Staffordshire then you could take advantage of a capital grant of up to £5,000. To be eligible for the ERDF funded Staffordshire New Business Capital Grant the business must not have started trading. For businesses that have started trading and are less than 12 months old they can still benefit from coachin support from the BES enterprise coaches. For further information please click here
The Prince’s Trust supports unemployed young people aged 18-30 to work out if their business ideas are viable and whether self-employment is right for them. The programme can offer mentoring support and, for those that really need it, financial support to start a business or mentoring support to secure goals in employment, education or training. SmallBusiness.co.uk is run by a private media company and provides useful resources, products and services for small business owners and start-ups. We offer free online advice in the form of news articles, guides, tips and features that can point you in the right direction to start and run your own small business. Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce
Our five stage business start-up programme provides aspiring entrepreneurs the platform to succeed through training, support, advice and commercial investment. Aspiring entrepreneurs can access a series of free workshops covering the fundamentals of business such as tax, VAT, employing staff and financial forecasting.
